Crew Hip Hop

DANCE 193 (2.0 units)Session II

This course is designed to support non-major dance students learning outcomes in basic and foundational concepts of Hip Hop dance forms. Students explore rhythms, grooves, and isolations that are conducive to the techniques used in current Hip Hop styles. Cultural, social, and political historical references compliment movement study. Foundations of hip hop dance, including basic vocabularies, style, rhythms, and cultural conventions of the historical and popular genre. Includes daily warm-ups, phrases, dances and opportunities to "freestyle," using footwork, coordination, gestures, patterns and floor work typical of hip hop dance.
