EAS 55 (4.0 units) – Session I
What do BTS and boys’ love dramas have in common? What’s the big deal with Korean skin care and plastic surgery? Why is feminism so controversial in Korea? In this course we will answer these questions and more through an examination of gender and sexuality in Korea. Using films, short stories, poetry, dramas, and music videos, we will trace Korean gender and sexuality over the last century to learn why it is such a hot topic today. (IV and VIII).
