Session II
Introduction to historical and theoretical foundations of digital media art, tracing how information technologies seeded growth of new expressive medium. Considers how today's pervasive digital culture evolved through interdisciplinary collaborations between artists, engineers, scientists, scholars. (IV)
This course will have a hybrid delivery format. All sessions will be synchronous. The first five sessions (8/6-8/20) will be online, and will focus on foundational material and active learning modules. The last five sessions (8/22-9/5) will be in-person, and will feature creative opportunities that are only possible on-campus. The final exam (9/10) will be online.
