Session II
Designed for students interested in careers in healthcare and biomedical research, this course describes biological mechanisms of the major causes, standard medical treatments, and evidenced-based prevention of the most common diseases in the U.S. Topics are discussed at the molecular, cellular, and system levels. Students will also learn about the structure and function of essential organs and tissues, and the strategies and technologies used in scientific studies and clinical trials that validated these medical therapies and preventive measures. Prerequisite: BIO SCI D103
